NIC District Center Ludhiana came into existence in November 1988 at Room No.125, First Floor, Mini Secretariat, Ludhiana. Since then, it has been providing various IT related services to State / Central Government departments in the district.

Objective of NIC

The long term objective of the National Informatics Centre, as approved by the Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance and the erstwhile Electronics Commission, had been to establish the feasibility of a system for the provision of detailed information to government ministers and agencies to assist them in making decisions relating to the country's economic and social development, planning and program implementation. NIC was set up with the aforementioned objective to promote economic, social, scientific and technological activities, and also for macro-economic adjustments program of the Government, through the applications of Information Technology (I.T.)

Projects

  1. Video Conferencing :

    Video Conferencing Facility started in the NIC District Centre in January 2005. This brings the decision makers and action takers together, face to face, wherever they are across the country and around the Globe. Experts from remote locations can interact with each other in real time interactive mode. By providing strong channels of visual, graphical and multimedia communication, video-conferencing opens new vistas of functioning of government and service delivery mechanism is enabled for various sectors of Indian economy.

  2. SUWIDHA (Single User-Friendly Window Disposal and Helpline for Applicants)

    This was built to provide convenience to the citizen by capturing the input at a single point for different services, re-engineering Government processes and mapping citizen charter to reality. The citizen approaches the SUWIDHA window and files his application. He is issued a receipt cum token number, which specifies the date of delivery of service. The case is sent to the concerned branch for action and get the delivery of his documents from the SUWIDHA counter itself on the specified date. In order to ensure timely delivery, Deputy Commissioner monitors the progress regularly so that citizen doesn’t have to visit the office again.

  3. PRISM (Property Registration Information System Module)

    PRISM automates all major activities of Sub Registrar Office and covers online Registration of all types of deeds, Evaluation of properties, Monitoring of Revenue, Preparation of index register, issue of Encumbrance Certificates and Electronic storage of scanned documents, deeds of Sale, Mortgage, Adoption, GPA, Exchange, Pattanama, Lease etc.

    PRISM is a client/server based software, implemented in the Sub-Registrar Office (East & West) of District Ludhiana in Year 2003.

  4. Affidavit Information System

    This system has been implemented in this year to bring the transparency in the affidavit attestation. Under this module Photo of the Applicant is captured and printed on the backside of the Affidavit paper and delivered instantly. Only Rs. 20/- is charged for this process.

  5. AGMARKNET

    AGMARKNET Software is used to computerize data on market fee, market charges, total arrivals, arrivals by agencies , prices, storage, dispatches with destination, mode of transportation , costs, sold and unsold stocks, method of sale, payment ,weighing facility, grading facilities etc.

    In the First Phase, four Market committees viz. Khanna, Jagraon, Samrala and Raikot have been computerized in district Ludhiana and in the second Phase nine Market Committees viz Hathur, Mullanpur, Sahnewal, Machhiwara, Ludhiana, Kila Raipur, Doraha, Maloud and Sidhwan Bet are computerized.

  6. District Treasury Office

    Ludhiana was the first district in Punjab to computerize Treasury Office. NIC has fully computerized the District Treasury Office, Ludhiana. All treasury works like Bills, Accounts, data transfer, receipt, Pension, daily data from banks, maintaining of budget etc. has been computerized and running successfully since 2001. This has drastically reduced the work of Treasury Employees as now they don’t have to calculate the complex figure daily. Almost all the things are being done by the Software itself. Payment Checks are now being printed. It brings relief from the hectic and complex work of Treasury and also the payments check has been given to the various departments in time. Now daily data figures of Payment & Receipts are transferred through E-mail.The status of these figures can be seen on the Treasury web Site www.khajana.nic.in

  7. District Social Security Office

    Government of Punjab is giving monthly pensions to Old Age persons, Widows, Dependent children and Disabled persons. More then One lakh beneficiaries are there in District Ludhiana. NIC has successfully computerized all the pension details since 1994 which results in the timely distribution of the pension to the beneficiaries. This will drastically reduce the work of District Social Security Office. Now the new system is going to be implemented by which one can get the status of his/her application at any time from the District Social Security Department. Stamp Module is the latest addition to the above package.

  8. WEBPASS & Passport Tracking System

    Now Submission of Passport form is not a hectic work because NIC has decentralized the submission of Passport application to the district level. Now instead of going to Chandigarh the applicant can submit his/her Passport Application in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at SUWIDHA centre from 10 AM to 1 PM on working days. There is no need to go to the agents. All the necessary information can be received from the SUWIDHA centre easily. By submitting the passport application in the district also reduces the time of making the passport. Now the applicant can get his/her passport within 45 days instead of waiting it for 3-4 months.

    Passport Tracking System is specially designed to track the application right from the submission of application till the application is transferred to RPO Chandigarh. With the help of Passport Tracking System, the applicant can know the status of his/her application at any time. Various reports related with Passport Tracking can also be generated through this system.   9. AISES

    Computerization of Education survey for all schools of the Urban and Rural areas of district Ludhiana is being done for many years continuously.

  10. Payroll S/w

    Software for pay of the employees of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office has been implemented by NIC Ludhiana for many years. Now the pay bills are done in few hours, earlier this process used to take weeks. This Payroll Software has been successfully implmented for the offices of Deputy Commissioner, , SDM (East & West) , District Social security Officer, Dy ESA., Food & Civil Supply , Excise & Taxation , etc.

  11. Village Directory Information System (VDIS)

    Deputy Economic and Statistical Advisor’s ( Dy E.S.A.) office is maintaining the Village directory of all the 918 villages of District Ludhiana which consists all the possible data of the villages. NIC has also computerized this Village directory and in operation for the past 10 years. After Compilation this data is sent to CMO Office, Chandigarh.   12. Elections S/w

    All the technical work like Duties of Employees, Reports, Affidavits' scanning and Result of Vidhan Sabha, Lok Sabha, Panchayat, Zila Parishad, Gurudwara Elections is being done by NIC for several years. This process includes the data entry for various departments and their staff. After processing & checking the authenticity of data, pollling parties are made as per requirements of District Administration. Then varous reports like individual order, Party list, Department list, order for reserved staff, consolidated party order are generated. In addition to this result is also transmitted to Doordarshan through internet.

  13. Rural Soft

    This is the new on-line project in which entries of all the Rural development schemes is to be entered directly on web site, developed by NIC, by DRDA and Zila Parishad officials.

  14. District & Session Court

    NIC is now evolving in all the fields of Government Sector. Courts have also been computerized. Many software’s like Payroll, Judgement software etc have already been implemented. Training to about 300 employees of courts has been imparted.

  15. MPLADS S/w

    NIC has implemented the Software Developed in Visual Basic and reports designed using Crystal Reports for keeping records of different funds like MPLAD, IAY, etc.

  16. Arms License Information System (ALIS)

    ALIS Software has been successfully implemented with all the services like New Licence, renewal of Licence, Weapon Entry, Addition of Weapon, deletion of Weapon, Change of Address, and Retainer’s Entry.

  17. Internet and E-mail Connectivity to user department

    NIC Ludhiana also providing E-mail and Internet Connectivity to various Central/State Offices.

  18. Networking plan

    National Informatics Centre is one of the biggest networks in any country and the network is popularly known as NICNET. Each district centre has VSAT installed for the Internet & E-mail facility. The mails to the Collector & various departments are received through NICNET and sent to them.

    Ludhiana has currently New Gen FTDMA VSAT installed in the premises of DC Office Mini Secretariate Ludhiana.

    Office also has Internal Network. All the Computers (Branches ) are connected through Local Area Network (LAN). A Centralized DC Office Server connects all the Clients lying in the different branches.

  19. Training

    NIC Ludhiana also imparting training to Various Government Offices (Central/State) from Time to time. Till Now More than 300 Employees have been trained by this office . The Primary training is on the Computer fundamentals and Software for the Office/branch.

  20. DOEACC CCC-CAPES Examination

    NIC Ludhiana also conducts the Online DOEACC Exams. NIC Ludhiana has successfully conducted DOEACC CCC-CAPES Exams twice (this year and last year). Student Enrolled for this exam appears in this test online from the NIC District Centre Ludhiana.

  21. District Website

    With the launch of this official website Ludhiana.nic.in , NIC Ludhiana is also listed in the list of the districts who have their own official website. This site is designed by the NIC District Centre Ludhiana under the guidance of WEB-GROUP, NIC Punjab State Unit, Chandigarh. All the contents have been provided by District Administration.
